We Need New Names A Novel

This novel takes place in Paradise, Zimbabwe which is ironic because for the main character Darling, Paradise is a rough place to grow up.  Darling is a young girl growing up during the civil war and her desire is to live in America.  She sees the struggles that she encounters as making her ready to live in the America.

The reader gets an opportunity to see Paradise through the eyes of Darling. The story is fast paced.  You will not want to put this book down.

If you like reading about people from your hometown then this book is for you but be forewarned that the subject matter is honest and raw. As I read Coates' book, I could identify with the neighborhoods, the streets, and more than anything the situations that he encountered.

Leonid McGill is a short, very short African American bad-ass detective.  He loves hard and works even harder. His ability to solve a case and not get arrested or murdered are comparable to his ability to protect his family and to keep more than two things cases going at once.
